DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION OF CHINESE MEDICINE & GOVERNMENT CHINESE MEDICINE TESTING INSTITUTE AT PAK SHING KOK ROAD, Hong Kong

under design & construction

Situated at Pak Shing Kok, Tseung Kwan O, the Chinese Medicine Hospital (CMH) with a total construction floor area of about 159,800 s.m. will provide 400 beds with both inpatient and outpatient services, ambulatory care services, rehabilitation and other allies health services. CMH will also diagnose and treat specific diseases through the collaboration of Chinese and Western medicine practitioners with the former playing a predominant role.

In addition, the CMH will be a base for teaching and clinical practicum for the schools of Chinese medicine of three local universities and a clinical training platform for Chinese medicine practitioners.

Alongside the CMH, the new Government Chinese Medicine Testing Institute (GCMTI) with a total construction floor area of about 30,880 s.m. comprises various dedicated laboratories, a Chinese Medicine (CM) drugs herbarium laboratory, an international collaboration and training centre, equipped with a multi-purpose conference room, and a training and technology transfer laboratory; laboratories for the Chinese Medicines Section (CMS) of the Government Laboratory (GL), and a macroscopic and microscopic examination laboratory of the Department of Health (DH).

The CMH’s & GCMTI’s architectural designs highlight the essence of co-existence of traditional Chinese culture on “the Way of Natural Health” and the modern Chinese medicine. The design also carries a mission to advance public awareness on the science of our traditional Chinese medicine through personal journey in this complex.

The project is under construction and will be completed by the second quarter of 2025.
