FAR EAST FINANCE CENTRE, Hong Kong

1982

The site for this project is unaffected by the MTR as it does not lie above the station and concourse. The brief from the Client called for an iconic office tower built to the maximum height permitted under the Lease. In order to achieve the maximum building height, the size of the floor plate had to be optimised and the resulting configuration was an end core building with the core located on the side with the least desirable view. Notwithstanding the end core arrangement, the entire tower is clad in a gold-coloured reflective glass on all façades. The slim, elegant proportions of the tower are carried down to ground level, dominating the low podium treated as a horizontal element in contrast.
