The Pok Oi Hospital has been serving the North West area of the New Territories of Hong Kong since 1913. The old buildings completed in the 1960s and 1970s were redeveloped into a full-service hospital in 2006. The new hospital was constructed over a period of 5 years within the existing compound while the existing facilities remained in operation.

The new hospital provides 622 in-patient beds with a total construction area of about 65,000 s.m. It consists of 53 departments under the following major grouping:

  1. Nursing Services for clinical specialty wards, special care units and related shared facilities;
  2. Outpatient Services covering Specialist Outpatient Clinics and A&E Department;
  3. Ambulatory Care Services covering Day Geriatrics, Day Psychiatry, Day Medical, Day Obstetrics, Day Surgery, Day Procedures and Community Health Centre;
  4. Diagnostic and Treatment Services covering Operating Theatre, Delivery Suite, Radiology, Clinical Laboratories and Rehabilitation and Allied Health Services;
  5. Support Services covering Food Services, Pharmacy, Procurement and Stores, Plant Maintenance, Communications, Security, Data Processing and Staff Change/Lockers; and
  6. Administrative Services covering Hospital and Nursing Administration, Medical Staff, Accounting, Human Resources, Spiritual Support and Building Amenities.
